The Aim of the Portsmouth Triathletes is to keep this great race on the sporting calendar and allow many people to experience a sea swim, closed road, Triathlon.
There will be 2 distances
Olympic 1.5K sea swim / 42K bike / 10K run
Sprint 750m sea swim / 24K bike / 5K run
Notes :
Full race maps will be available later, final permissions and permits are being sought
Sea Swim: It will be open water and tidal. We will expect competitors to be open water experienced and able to navigate and swim across a light tide. A Spring Tide is not the time to try your first sea swim!
Bike course: The course has changed to be loops of the sea front. It will be fast and flat but technical, especially if there is a ‘Southsea breeze’ on the day. There will be one U turn which competitors have to negotiate each lap.
Run Course : will be a 4 (Olympic) or 2 (Sprint) lap circuit, crossing the Castle field each lap before the finish funnel experience. Great spectator viewing and sure to keep runners on their toes.
Timings : Registration / Bike Racking from 0630 – 0750 on the day.
Sea Swim wave starts 0800 – 0840 (Olympic) 0900 – 0930 (Sprint)
Closed roads will be lifted 1130
